Training Philosophy
If there's one thing that years of research; a degree in neurobiology; and being an athlete have taught me, it's that inter-individual variation is an incredibly powerful force that shapes how people respond to the same stimulus.
In other words, even if two runners follow the exact same training plan, intrinsic genetic, biochemical, and physiological variation can lead to drastically different performances.
For instance, one athlete may thrive under high mileage training, while another may find that anything more than 40 miles/week leaves them susceptible to chronic injury. One runner may find that they perform best when they emphasize speed-work year round, while this approach causes burn-out in others.
No matter what your goals are: whether it be to run your first 5k or break 5 minutes in the mile, I will tailor your training plan to optimize your strengths and minimize weaknesses! I am a firm believer that coaching works best when it is a collaborative effort: seamlessly integrating an athlete's past experiences, feedback, and perspective with the scientific knowledge and guidance that a coach can provide.
