My running journey with began with a green slip of paper and a pencil: when signing up for 7th-grade classes, I circled “cross-country” for my P.E. credit. My reason? The rest of my friend group ran cross-country and track, and I wanted to have something in common with them. Sometimes, I find it hard to fathom that this one, small decision has led me to where I am today.
It didn’t take long for me to fall in love with running. After that first season, I became more intentional with my training and racing, working with private coaches during the off-season. As a freshman, I placed 15th at the UIL 5A cross-country state meet. The following year, I shaved a few seconds off my 5k PR and placed 5th at the state meet.
Although I planned to continue cross-country and track at the collegiate level, I was diagnosed with a spine injury during the recruiting process and decided to take a step away from the sport for my overall health and wellbeing. During this time off, I realized that I wanted to attend college as a student, rather than a student-athlete.
I spent my college years pursuing a degree in neurobiology, and in the fall of 2026, I will begin my journey as a medical student! My enthusiasm for science and medicine fuels my passion for coaching: particularly, understanding the physiological principles that underlie different training philosophies, athlete development, and recovery techniques. This led me to founding RunningDTX, where I find an immense sense of fulfillment in helping athletes of all abilities achieve their goals.
